Actions
Download
The Download operation saves files from Google Drive to a folder on your computer. Google-native file types (Docs, Sheets, Slides) can optionally be exported to Microsoft Office formats.
How to Download Files
- Select files in the file table
- Click Download in the selection toolbar
- Configure the download options
- Click Start
Configuration
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Download location | Click Browse to select a destination folder. Available disk space is shown. |
| Maintain folder structure | Recreates the Google Drive folder hierarchy in the destination. When off, all files go directly into the destination folder. |
| Export Google Docs | Exports Docs, Sheets, and Slides to their Office equivalents (docx, xlsx, pptx). When off, Google-native files are skipped. |
| Include subfolders | When folders are selected, includes all nested files. |
Overwrite Strategy
Controls what happens when a file already exists at the destination:
| Strategy | Behavior |
|---|---|
| If updated | Overwrite only if the Drive file is newer than the local copy |
| Always | Always overwrite existing files |
| Never | Skip files that already exist locally |
Disk Space
The dialog shows estimated download size alongside available disk space. If the estimate (plus a 10% buffer) exceeds available space, you must free up space or choose a different destination before starting.
Notes
- Download does not require elevated permissions beyond the initial sign-in access
- File contents are fetched directly from Google Drive during the operation
- Google-native files that are not exported are skipped with a "skipped" status in the results
