Standard Organizing Tools

Beyond custom labels and info fields, Drive Toolbox provides access to Google Drive's built-in organizing tools — with the added power of bulk application.

Star / Unstar

Star files to mark them as important. Starred files appear in the "Starred" section of Google Drive's web and mobile apps.

In Drive Toolbox, you can star or unstar files in bulk:

  1. Select files in the file table
  2. Open the More menu (⋮) in the selection toolbar → Organize
  3. Choose Add to Starred or Remove from Starred

You can also combine starring with filters — for example, star all files matching size:gt:100MB to flag large files for review.

Filter starred files: starred:equals:true

Folder Colors

Apply a color to folders using Google Drive's 24-color preset palette. Folder colors are visible in both Drive Toolbox and Google Drive's own interface.

  1. Select folders in the file table (non-folder files are automatically skipped)
  2. Open MoreOrganizeSet Folder Color
  3. Choose a color from the palette, or click Reset to default

Filter by folder color: folder_color:near:red (find red-ish folders), folder_color:equals:blue (exact color match)

Move Files

Relocate files to a different folder in your Drive. Drive Toolbox supports both individual and bulk moves:

  • Batch Move: Select files → click Move → choose a destination folder. See Move for full details including the Flatten option.
  • Drag and Drop: Drag files from the file table to a folder in the Explorer Panel.
  • Context Menu: Right-click a file → Move.

Rename

Rename files and folders directly in the file table:

  1. Right-click a file → Rename, or double-click the filename
  2. Edit the name inline
  3. Press Enter to confirm, or Escape to cancel

Create Folder

Create a new folder from the right-click context menu or from the Explorer Panel. The folder is created inside the currently viewed folder.
